Easy method to square a 2 digit number in your head

Square a 2 Digit Number, take example 46:

    Look for the nearest 10 boundary

    In this case up 4 from 46 to 50.

    Since you went UP 4 to50

 So go DOWN 4 from 46 to 42.

    Now mentally multiply 42x50

    2100 is the first half solution. Now keep it aside

     

    46 is "4" away from the 10 boundary 50.

    Square this "4" distance from 10 boundary.

    4x4=16, this is the SECOND half solution

    Add the two solutions to get the final answer.

   

    Answer: 2100 + 16 = 2116
